Christians: Are Psalms to be studied the same way ?
Is what is said about God in Psalms to be taken as Word of God for today?
34:16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
4:3 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself:
34:7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
17:3 Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me…
5:6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
And many more re how God deals with the psalmist and his enemies. Is this also the same for us today? Would it be proper to pray like the psalmist prays to God?
its called divine zeal, the psalmist did not pray with a heart full of hate, he wanted God to show his enemy that God does exist and that God will brng those who do the wrong thing to justice and most ofthe time He will find them guilty thus "destroying" them.

These are expressions of faith perfectly consistent with Christianity. Just remember that a Christian’s enemies are not other people. The people involved are loved by Christ but are being manipulated and deceived to be used as enemies of Christ.
Ephesians 6:12 (New King James Version)
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Is the psalmist praying or stating spiritual facts that call for our trust? Do we see him as calling for vengeance or bringing fire down upon other people? Or do we really see the rulers of spiritual darkness at work in high places?
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies, my cup runneth over… If one is content to feast at this table many enemies, in the scheme of God’s plan, turn out to be friends and, if not, it is written that in so far as is possible we should follow peace with all men.
We are seated at a table which the Master has set. We are his guest and the words we speak should come from his lips. Our joy then, at our table, should make the hungry even more so. If we have no other proof to show; we should at least display the deep satisfaction which is ours. Indeed what has taken place in the night (17:3) should be apparent upon the face of those who feast at this table and are openly blest.
Should we study these things or pray them as militant barbs of the word of truth; or better remember and hide the word in our heart. The word is called to mind in every situation as we wait on the mind of Christ.
Meditation and even praise might be better; as prayer is designed to prepare the soldier; not to slay his enemy by repetition or turn poems into incantations as witches do. Psalm 1 provides counsel for meditation and living on all the Psalms. This counsel of three words is repeated in a different light in Ephesians. (sit, stand, walk).
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, or sitteth in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord and in his law he doth meditate both day and night….and I hope all know the rest by heart?
I firmly believe that the line quoted in Psalm 34:16 is true and that such will be the case in the earth in the coming hours. Until called to battle rest in the encampment of 34:7 and know that the battle is not ours but the Lord himself is at war.
The idea is not for us to become swift and strong but not to resist. Men do not resist Christians they resist the word which they either cannot see or deny. Christians often pattern themselves after the Roman legions when the balance of the martial arts is more in keeping with Paul’s instructions for our defense. We forget that none of the equipment is ours to begin with.
Many Christians take it personal attempting to do God a service when they have not been called to a particular battle and they have not defeated their own Goliath. If we do not maintain the high ground and take the timing to ourselves, without prayer and even fasting, then we stand a good chance in a real battle of being torn apart.

Keep track of who is declaring the Psalms and why they are saying it…
but in a deeper study we are to study the Psalms because they are in inspired by God.
Example:
David wrote Psalms 22 but but is you look closer you’ll notice that Psalm 22 foretells the crucifixion of Christ about 1000 years before it happens….
When christ said… "God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" on the cross, Christ was not talking to God, but rather, Christ was quiting Psalms 22 and teaching the people that what was told in the Psalm 22 was becoming true. (Christ never called God "God")
what does the bible say:
Speaking of the Old Testament…
"1Cr 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come."
Pray to God from the heart… that is what the Psalms are, prayers from the heart lead by God.
