IMDB rating: 6.50 Plot: It is 1948 in LA and Ezikeal “Easy” Rawlins, an African-American World War II veteran, is looking for work. At his friend’s bar, he is introduced to a white man, DeWitt Albright, who is looking for someone to help him find a missing white woman assumed to be hiding somewhere in LA’s Black community. This woman, Daphane Monet, happens to be the fiancee of a wealthy “blue blood,” Todd Carter, who is currently the favorite in the city’s mayoralty race. Daphane Monet is known to frequent the Black jazz clubs in LA. Easy, innocently, accepts Albright’s offer; however, he quickly finds himself amidst murder, crooked cops, ruthless politicians, and brutalizing hoodlums. This is a Chandler-esque “who-done-it” with an African-American theme. |

Short white dress
What am I?
Yeah, you guessed it, an angel.
Me? An angel?
Ha- get to know me, and you’ll learn I’m the devil.
Not an innocent thought rushes through my head.
I’m pretty sure I should have been a devil.
White stiletto heels clicking against the side walk,
I smile the devilish smile across the street,
boys stop just to take another look,
to them, I’m an angel sent from above.
Yeah, you could call me an angel,
An angel with platinum blonde hair,
Ice blue eyes,
and a perfect smile.
Yeah, I’m better than all of them,
I’m more amazing than all of them,
Me? An angel?
Yeah, I guess I am.
